I am passionate about the environment and love the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary, the small things that people often walk past.

I am interested in the textures of the man-made and natural worlds, the marks that tell a story of weathering and time, of people’s lives and the physical elements that alter a surface. I love how this surface becomes layered by air, water, rust, graffiti and the passing of years. By cryptic little love notes, an engineer's notations, scuffing on concrete, peeling timber and the arcane and seemingly random engravings of everyday life. Natural faults and seams in rock, colours in moss and rust, markings on footpaths, spots and galls on leaves, the delicate feet of a lizard – all to me are infinitely inspiring.

I like ambiguity and mystery and work with different media, layering my work, scraping and scratching back and often reworking or layering images onto one another.

The ideas that come from the natural world in combination with the marks that humans make form the basis of all my work.
